It's that time of the year when I'm out meeting brides & grooms, visiting their venues and, with the colour also returning to the landscape, a time when I'm busy with their engagement shoots too.
Hannah & Matthew decided to have their engagement shoot in Sonning last week. It's one of my old hangouts so I know the place really well, particularly around The Mill Theatre and Restaurant. We started the shoot there then walked by the banks of The River Thames, spending a few quiet moments in the grounds of The French Horn and finishing the shoot in some colourful urban places nearby. Hannah also timed the shoot to coincide with her hair & make-up trial with Melissa Clare and I'm sure you will agree, she looked fantastic!.
I'm really looking forward to Hannah & Matthew's wedding later this year at another local venue I know really well, Ufton Court where I'm a preferred supplier.
Ruth & Matt both work in construction and first met while working on a contract together. Fast forward two years, Matt has proposed and Ruth said "Yes"!
They contacted me shortly after returning home from their holiday in Canada and had also recently moved from London to Wallingford so were in a happy place. Now that they were away from the city they wanted something green, peaceful and relaxed for their engagement shoot too. We decided on Englefield Estate for it's sheer beauty, vastness and for the smell of fresh Scots Pine. It's also very close to Ufton Court, which is one of my regular wedding venues and it's where Ruth and Matt are tying the knot in November. I'm so looking forward to it!
Jess and Rob first met each other at university while studying on the same masters course. But it wasn't until after university that they started dating, partly because of a language barrier (Jess is from Finland and Rob is from England). It's hard when compliments get lost in translation but thankfully they fell in love and now both speak perfect English and Rob's Finnish is improving too.
I had a great time photographing their engagement session in Old Basing and came away from it knowing a lot more about wildlife - Rob and Jess are both super passionate about environmental management. They know the names of even the smallest creatures (including the wild cockroach that hitched a ride on my camera bag during the shoot).
Oh, and their wedding was a cracker. Images from that to follow...
Sarah & Frank are among the warmest, most supportive, selfless and hard working people I have ever met. We first met at a wedding exhibition, they invited me to their home in Sandhurst (amazingly just around the corner from where I live) to talk more about their wedding and look more in depth at my photography and style. Unbeknown to me something about my photography and personality had already really stood out to them and I was delighted when they booked me to photograph their wedding a couple of days later.
Their engagement session took place a few months ago at Leadenhall Market - a beautiful Victorian market in London, which was famously the setting for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter movies. It's located in the heart of The City so is surrounded by contemporary architecture and is virtually empty at the weekend. It was perfect for a cold wintry day (but we did have to take some coffee breaks to warm up)!
Sarah & Frank - thank you for the lovely afternoon. You were fantastic (and really easy to photograph)!
